Day 1
"Morning of Trip" - Don't use Google Maps
1st stop: Rosedale - Coffee Stop
Birch & Perch was our 1st stop - 2hrs in
Unusual coffee menu - purchased a 'Beetroot Latte with Cinnamon"
Coffee shop had a very country feel with a lot of locals dropping in for their daily coffee hit
2nd Stop - VIC/NSW Border - Mt Kosciusko National Park
Google Maps had taken us on a scenic route to Jindabyne from Buchan on unsealed roads
The 70k trip took us around 3hrs as we could only travel at 40ks per hour on very narrow and windy roads on the side of Mt Kosciusko
Day 2
Visit to the "Wildbrumby Distillery"
Sampled schnapps
Glenny B had - Peppermint/Butterscotch/Peach
Easy E had - Butterscotch/Devils Tongue(chilli based)/Pear
Lunch was great - particular the Veal Schnizt and the Gernam sausages on mash
Purchased our favorite schnapps - "Butterscotch" and "Negroni Gin" for home
The Distillery has a number of gin based cocktails and of course some great Schnapps varieties on the menu.
Lake Crakenback Spa Resort
Stopped for an afternoon coffee at the Alpine Larder Cafe
Place was very peaceful and will definitely look at staying here in the future
There are plenty of mountain bike and hiking tracks
There is a golf course, an archery area, and lake for various non motorised boat activities
The resort has a number of chalets, studios type rooms and apartments
Day 3
Trekking Mt Kosciusko
The morning started at Thredbo where we took a chairlift ride up to the starting point of the trail.
It was a 6.5k hike towards the peak of Mt Kosciusko where the temperature was around 8 degrees with light winds.
The trail was well laid out and impossible to miss or even get lost.
Views were breathtaking
Recovery - Banjo Patterson's Inn - Dinner
After hiking Mt Kosciusko we dropped in for a feed at the Banjo Patterson Inn which is home to the Kosciusko brewery.
Atmosphere was good and lively with a number of locals and tourists attending and participating in the Friday meat raffle which was one of the highlights of the night.
From memory - Some patron by the name of Joan won a number of meat trays this night.
The other highlight was watching Raiders take on the Sharks on the big screen.
Menu was standard pub fare which is just the way we liked it and washed down with of course a Kosi Pale Ale in celebration of the achievement.
Day 4
Day at the Show - NSW Regional Style - "Cooma"
Most definitely a country feel
Mullet city which was cool
Dogwood Dog - A battered frankfurt in pure vegetable oil dipped in ketchup was the most popular food item.
Lots horses and gunboot throwing competition.
Afternoon at the John Connors oval:
(Jindabyne Tigers v Coom Cobras - Qualifying Final)
Was enticed by the $1000 crowd catch competition
Cheap $5 beer and a sausage roll and a Villis meat pie - food of champions
Jinbaybne were all out of 143 and Cooma fell just short by 17 runs
Day 5
Day in Jindabyne
Breaksfast at Birchwood cafe
Glennee B had the big breakfast that she could not finish and Easy E had the Bircher Muesli
Relaxed stroll around town and Lake Jindabybe
A light lunch at Peak Performance where Glennee B had a Blueberry/Protein/Flaxxseed and some other ingredients shake while Easy E had a long black.
Visit to Charlottes Pass and Perisher Valley
